General
What is ToolsKit?
ToolsKit is a collection of free, browser-based tools for working with PDF files, building resumes, boosting productivity, and managing student life. Every tool runs directly in your browser — no software to install, no accounts to create, and no files uploaded to servers. We built it because we got tired of tool websites that promise "free" but hit you with paywalls, account requirements, or watermarks.
Is ToolsKit really free?
Yes — completely free, no catches. No trial period, no "you have used 3 out of 5 free credits" nonsense, no premium tier that locks basic features. Every tool works fully without paying. We keep the site running through non-intrusive advertising.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Just open any tool and start using it. No email, no password, no account creation flow. Your data stays in your browser and is never associated with an account.
How does ToolsKit make money?
Through non-intrusive advertising. We show a small number of ads that do not block the tool interface or require interaction. We will never sell your data or require payment for basic features.
Privacy & Security
Is my data safe?
Yes. PDF, text, and resume tools process everything in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. There is no backend to hack and no reason to store your files. This is fundamentally different from tools that upload your files to a server for processing.
Do you store my files or data?
No. Once you close the tab, everything is gone. We have no database of user files, no server-side storage, and no way to access what you process through our tools. Some tools save data locally in your browser (like the Pomodoro Timer session history), but this data never leaves your device.
Do you use cookies?
We use only essential cookies required for the site to function — things like remembering your dark mode preference. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or sell any data to third parties. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
Can I use ToolsKit for confidential documents?
Yes. Since processing happens entirely in your browser, confidential documents like contracts, financial reports, and legal filings are safe to process through our tools. Your files never leave your device.
PDF Tools
What PDF operations are supported?
We offer six PDF tools: Merge PDF (combine files), Split PDF (extract pages), Compress PDF (reduce size), PDF to JPG (convert pages to images), JPG to PDF (turn images into PDFs), and PDF to DOCX (PDF to Word). All run entirely in your browser.
Is there a file size limit?
Most tools handle files up to 100 MB. For very large files, try splitting the PDF first using Split PDF, then processing the smaller parts. Compress PDF can also reduce file size before other operations.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Yes, but you will need to enter the password first so the tool can unlock the pages. The tool will prompt you for the password before processing. This works for PDFs that require a password to open.
Will compressing a PDF reduce quality?
Text is always compressed losslessly — it stays perfectly crisp. For images, the effect depends on the compression level: Light keeps images untouched, Medium applies mild optimization, and Maximum applies stronger compression. For most screen viewing, Medium compression produces no visible quality difference.
Do PDF tools work on mobile?
Yes. All PDF tools work in mobile browsers on both iOS and Android. The interface adapts to smaller screens, and processing happens on your device regardless of screen size.
Resume Tools
What is an ATS resume checker?
ATS (Applicant Tracking System) is the software that filters resumes before a human sees them — used by over 75% of employers. Our checker simulates that process by analyzing formatting, keywords, section headers, and contact information placement, then gives you a compatibility score from 0 to 100 with specific fixes.
How do I improve my resume bullets?
Paste your bullet into the Resume Bullet Improver. It detects weak verbs like "helped" or "responsible for" and rewrites them with stronger action verbs, quantifiable results, and impact-focused language. You get multiple suggestions for each bullet.
How do I match my resume to a specific job?
Use the Resume Keyword Analyzer. Paste the job description alongside your resume. The tool identifies which skills, tools, and qualifications the employer is screening for that you have not yet mentioned, then suggests where to add them.
What score should I aim for on the ATS checker?
Aim for 80 or higher. This means your resume is well-optimized for most ATS systems. Below 60 indicates significant issues that likely cause automated rejection. The tool provides a prioritized list of fixes ranked by impact.
Do you offer resume templates?
We focus on improving your content rather than providing templates. Our tools help you write stronger bullets, match job descriptions, and pass ATS checks. The formatting advice in our guides helps you choose the right structure for your experience level.
Productivity Tools
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
A time management method: work for 25 minutes with full focus, take a 5-minute break, repeat. After 4 rounds, take a longer 15-30 minute break. The structure makes it easier to push through difficult material because you know a break is coming. Our timer handles all the intervals automatically.
How does the word counter work?
Paste or type text and it counts words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences, and paragraphs in real time. It also shows estimated reading time and checks against character limits for Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
Can I use the reading time calculator for presentations?
Yes. Set the words-per-minute to your speaking pace — typically 130 to 150 WPM for presentations. The tool divides your total word count by the selected WPM to give you an accurate estimate of presentation duration.
Student Tools
What grading scales does the GPA calculator support?
Standard 4.0, weighted 5.0 (for AP/IB/honors courses), custom scales, and percentage grades. You can switch between scales freely and track multiple semesters side by side. The tool saves your data locally so you can come back to it.
What citation formats are supported?
APA (social sciences), MLA (humanities), Chicago (history), and Harvard (business). The generator handles websites, books, and journal articles. Generate citations as you research rather than saving them all for the end.
How do I organize my study schedule?
Use the Study Planner to map out weekly time slots for each subject. Set priority levels, assign color codes, and track completed sessions. Combine it with the Exam Countdown to see how many days remain before each exam.
Can I track multiple assignments?
Yes. The Assignment Tracker has no limit on how many assignments you can track. Add each with its subject, due date, and priority. The tracker sorts by urgency automatically so you always know what to work on next.
